Biography
Sandra Harding was born in 1935 and became one of the central figures in the feminist philosophy of science. She studied at Douglass College and at New York University before completing her doctorate. She taught at the University of Delaware and then, for most of her career, at the University of California, Los Angeles, where she was a professor of education and women's studies and a prominent voice in science and technology studies. She also held visiting positions and directed research on science in development contexts, work that informed her insistence that the philosophy of science cannot be detached from questions of power, colonial history, and social location.
